Man, when I think of Canada, I don’t really think of good music. Quite the opposite, in fact. They’ve heaped a lot of crap on the ears of discerning music lovers over the years, and when your best selling artists as a country include the likes of Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, Sum 41, Nickelback, Avril Lavigne and the ridiculously overrated Arcade Fire, it’s pretty tempting to write off the whole place as a bunch of soulless, uninspired hacks that wouldn’t know a good song, riff, groove or melody if it walked up and bit them on the ass.
Thankfully, sometimes they get it right. Junior Boys may not make up for all the bullshit music that’s come out of Canada, but it’s not a bad start.
That and full contact strip clubs.
Not too bad, Canada. Not too bad at all. There may be hope for you yet….
