Amtrak To Hell

Calm down, Dallas Fans….

It was the Rams. In Dallas.

They were supposed to win that game, and if they had won by less than 20 points, I would have considered it a failure.

Good win, and I’m stoked, but that does nothing to negate Jason Garrett’s reprehensible play calling against a couple of Super Bowl contenders, and the question still remains: what’s gonna happen when they get to the playoffs and Garrett freezes up again? Because they should absolutely get to the playoffs, considering their schedule from here on out.

The best thing about this game as far as I can tell is that they may have found their running back for the foreseeable future, although it should be remembered that the Rams are 28th in the league in defending against the run.

Look, I’m not trying to be a downer here. I was cheering on every successful play in that game along with every other Cowboy fan in the world, but it’s gonna take more than a home win against the Rams to wash away the disappointment of the last two losses that should have been wins.

I’ve been a Cowboys fan since I was old enough to talk. I was there through the glory days of the 90’s and the horrendous post-Aikman years, before Tony Romo came along and gave us all a bit of hope.

The most frustrating thing about this current team is the level of pure underacheivement they have wallowed through in recent seasons, including this one so far. They’re 3-3, but they should be, at the very least, 5-1.

There’s no doubt in the mind of anybody who actually knows a thing or two about NFL Football that they’ve proven they have the talent to play and compete with the best in the league. Now they have to prove they can actually focus and use that talent to beat the best in the league.  This win against the Rams was a necessary step towards reaching that goal.

Winning on the road next week against a Philly team who is probably a lot better than their record indicates will go a much longer way toward accomplishing that goal.
