Douglas Adams

The man wrote 7 of the most insightful, funny, clever and all around best novels ever, then waited almost a decade to start his last one, and then decided to croak of a heart attack while on a treadmill before finishing it. Dammit, Douglas, you couldn’t finish one more book before deciding to get your fat ass into shape? Fucking hell, everytime I pick up “The Salmon Of Doubt” and come to the unfinished ending, it’s all I can do to keep from taking a machine gun and heading to the nearest mall.

Worst Bands Ever: Wolfmother

Everyone with ears to hear who knows even the slightest thing about the history of rock music knows that Wolfmother is pretty much as derivative as you can get. That doesn’t necessarily make them suck in and of itself, since there are plenty of good bands that wear their influences on their sleeves, but fucking hell, at least try to feign some bit of originality. There’s a fine line between reverential tributes and bad copies, and Wolfmother clearly walks the side of the latter. As far as I can tell, these guys are nothing more than an AC/DC-Led Zeppelin cover band who added some vaguely different lyrics to their songs, and as much as Andrew Stockdale really, really, wishes he were Robert Plant, he’s simply not as good a singer. Making this kind of music without any fresh take 3 decades after it’s prime is not only boring and passe, it’s inexcusable. Not even the dimmest Wolfmother fan would argue that anything they’ve ever put out could even compare to Led Zeppelin or AC/DC, so why not just listen to the real thing in the first place?
